A lower middle-class upbringing in rural Appalachia afforded me the luxuries of farm labor, construction labor, weeding gardens, mowing lawns, painting, or just fixing what was required.
Graduating high school I had the urge to escape (as did most). Given my family's financial resources (or lack thereof) I decided to join the US Marine Corps. Ultimately, this would be the foundation of where I am today.
The Marine Corps built on the discipline that had been instilled in me growing up as the son of a Marine. At the end of my short career as a Marine, I was a platoon sergeant. My role was that of a highly awarded and respected cryptologic analyst being called upon from every corner of the globe for my subject-matter expertise.
After my short contract, I started working for my father driving a truck (CDL-A) hauling milk from local farms in Northcentral Pennsylvania to the processing plants in the general area mostly between Pennsylvania & New York. I worked for my father for 2 1/2 years until I was able to get another job as a civilian contractor with the USG (DOS). Coincidentally, this is the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life. My father wanted me to be the third generation of the family business. Helen Keller could've seen for herself that it was a sinking ship with no hope of repair. To the dismay of my father, myself, and dead grandfather, I fortunately moved on.
I have a combined 26 years of USG service between DOD, DOS, & civil-sector. I have travelled to 80 countries. I have risen the ranks from an Assistant Carpenter, Carpenter, FE/BR Technician, FE/BR Trainer, Safety Manager, Superintendent, to my current position of Project Manager.
I am very well-acquainted with USG construction as well as the general USG atmosphere. I thoroughly understand their construction specifications, requirements, methods, & documentation.
As hobbies, I am an avid outdoorsman, passionate and licensed Scuba diving professional and ocean conservationist. I love all that nature has to offer, and firmly believe that my grandchildren & theirs should have the luxury to enjoy the same opportunities and passions we currently take for granted.
I am an amateur photographer (above and below the water). All the photos & videos on this site are my own (with the exception of one underwater photo from a personal friend J.P. Puglia). One of the luxuries of travelling to so many countries is the ability to experience so many cultures and beauty that this world of ours has to offer first-hand. A privilege taken for granted by most in my field. An opportunity I wholeheartedly embrace.
Fun fact #1: I learned Hungarian by purchasing a house and moving to a small village in Northeastern Rural Hungary. (Currently trying my luck with the same approach in Mexico.)
Fun fact #2: I once proudly placed 2nd in a "Moo-off" competition at our county fair. My oldest brother placed 3rd. The guy that placed 1st must've been raised by cows.
I have successfully and by all accounts excelled as a Father, US Marine, Truck Driver, Carpenter, FDI-Certified FE/BR Trainer & Technician,, Construction Superintendent, & Project Manager.
I maintain my TS/SCI security clearance through multiple entities.
I am a licensed FE/BR Trainer for FDI. Licensed to certify TCN's on the proper installation and maintenance of FE/BR products.
As a "professional hobby," I am a PADI-certified Divemaster, with plans to become a Public Safety Diver within the next year. (that is a picture of me on the right guiding Open Water students....special thanks to J.P. Puglia Photography).
I have a current OSHA 30 Hour, EM385-1-1 40 Hour, FDI FE/BR Technician, OSHA Lockout-Tagout, Class-A CDL (w. tank endorsement), Forklift/Telehandler License, PADI Emergency First Responder, as well as American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid / CPR qualifications.
I will never quit learning, and eagerly jump at the opportunity to expand my skillset / knowledge.
Professionally, I dream to lead a construction team that I never question either in their abilities or their morality, ethics, & integrity. A team of safe, able-bodied, and skilled tradespeople that function as a well-engineered machine at work respecting one another "on and off the field." A team that can & will eagerly achieve the impossible.
Most of my personal goals have already been achieved. Nearing 46 years old, I am the extremely proud father of 3 beautiful (and as of yet unphased by woke culture), disciplined, and intelligent children (what more could a man ask for?). My ultimate dream would be to own 100 acres in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania with plenty of game, a nice sized pond, fenced all-around, and a cabin in the dead-center. Hermit life!
I would like to complete the PADI Public Safety Diver Course in the next year to benefit my community. There are far too few people with this certified ability, as unfortunate as it may be. A very thankless job (although absolutely necessary) nonetheless. I am also weighing the benefits of being a PADI OWSI instructor. Please let me know your opinions as this is a seriously contentious topic for me.
